Pearson Honored for Pro-Family Votes
For Immediate Release
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
State Representative Kevin Pearson (R-Slidell) is one of only 18 Louisiana legislators who will receive the Louisiana Family Forum Action’s Outstanding Family Advocate award, given to lawmakers who scored a 100-percent rating on LFFA’s 2010 legislative scorecard.
The scorecard tracks each lawmaker’s commitment to advancing polices that promote fiscally sound, pro-life and pro-family laws and public policy.
“An award like this is a tremendous encouragement that reminds me of many of the reasons I sought elected office,” Pearson said. “LFFA takes a stand on issues that are profoundly important to Louisiana’s families and I am proud to stand with them through my voting record.”
Pearson will accept the honor, which is a bronze bust of American patriot Patrick Henry, at LFFA’s annual awards banquet on Sept. 23 in Baton Rouge. Pearson is the only St. Tammany legislator to achieve the 100-percent rating.
Other awards being presented include the Family Advocate award, which will be presented to 58 lawmakers, and the Life and Liberty award that will be given to 10 lawmakers, including House Speaker Jim Tucker.
LFFA’s 2010 score card tracks legislators’ votes on matters including those that pertain to an opt-out of the federal healthcare plan, an opt-out of its abortion provisions, mandated ultrasounds before abortions, church daycare deregulation, the Religious Freedom Act, reducing extravagant contingency fees and inflated appropriations, home school diploma recognition, harmful sex education, and opposition to a national identification card.
