Palm Springs, CA – Tonight, President Barack Obama delivered an address from the Oval Office marking the end of U.S. combat operations in Iraq.  Following the President’s speech, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45), issued the following statements:

“As the daughter of a World War II veteran, I have always had tremendous respect and appreciation for our brave men and women in uniform.  Their heroism is nothing short of inspirational, and we owe a great debt of gratitude to all of those who have fought and died to protect our freedom.

“Tonight, I am especially proud of our troops who fought to protect life, liberty, and Country in ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’.  We cannot take for granted the great sacrifices made by American soldiers in Iraq and we must never forget to keep in our thoughts and prayers those who are still serving our Country today.

“As a proud American, I congratulate our troops who gave and continue to give so much for us and I wish them safe travels home.”
