Fire District 1 Chief Larry Hess presented the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce with a plan Friday morning that he says will lower the millage rate of property taxes and increase fire prevention services, which would eventually lower fire insurance premiums for homeowners.

John Georges, CEO of Dolphin Marine International, based in Elmwood, Louisiana with operations in Lafourche Parish and offices in Houston, has completed the sale of Dolphin's entire marine fleet to Harvey Gulf International and Crosby Towing in a mostly cash transaction involving swapping and sale of its entire fleet. Georges did not sell the company just its entire marine fleet. Georges has retained management of the company for use in other business ventures.

At-large City Council Member Jackie Clarkson today announced her endorsement of Jay Batt in the race for Council in District A.
Speaking at the Women for Batt Luncheon this afternoon at Ralph’s on the Park, Clarkson said she recognizes Batt as the right choice for the citizens of District A.
